About Jani's Photographic Diary

The General Idea

In 2007 I decided to shoot and publish a photograph exactly 365 photographs - one a day. The project was a massive success. "A success" in this regard means that I made it. Id didn't miss one single day.

This photographic diary is an extension of that project. I will try to write a bit more, but I won't publish any text without a photograph. Some days there will be no photo and some day there might be several. We shall see.

Equipment

When people see a nice photograph, they often ask the photographer what kind of he/she uses. That's a bit like asking a carpenter what kind of hammer he/she uses. Of course a carpenter has got a good hammer, but he could build better than you with any hammer. And you still couldn't make anything even if you had his or her well-balanced hammer.

That being said, my hammer is a Ricoh GX100, which is a pocketable compact camera with a good lens and enough options for someone who knows how to use them. From time to time I feel the urge to get a dSLR, but I don't think my pictures would be any better if I got one.
