Thais mostly refer to people by their first name. And when you are polite, you of course add "khun" or "mr.", which leads to this. All my receipts and stuff at Smith Residence are addressed to "Mr. Jani". I probably also have a room reserved under the name of "Mr. Jani's mother". We'll see what her receipts will say when she arrives on Saturday.
